Infrastructure Pathology

Department of Pathology has various sections for teaching and diagnostic activities.

Museum:

Department has a well organized and well maintained museum with 510 mounted specimens and 161 wet specimens of different systems with informative catalogues.

Library:

Department has a resourceful library with 428 books. These include latest editions of standard text books of Pathology as well as Pathology reference books.

Practical Laboratory:

Department in-houses well equipped practical halls for UG and PG teaching. Practical laboratories are equipped with latest instruments and audiovisual aids to facilitate effective student learning.

Facilities:

Department has various diagnostic Service Labs:
1. Histopathology laboratory which has a separate grossing and reporting sections. It has latest instruments like Leica automated tissue processor, and microtomes. For reporting, Pentahead microscope with digital camera, Trinocular Microscope with Plan Objective with LED Illumination (Projection Microscope) are used in addition to binocular and trinocular microscopes. Histopathology section also has specialised instruments like Leica cryostat for frozen section processing and Pathnsitu Biotech equipments for Immunohistochemistry section.
2. Cytology laboratory has advanced Cytospin EZEEPREP LBC technology for Cervical Pap smears and fluid cytology. In addition, Conventional cytology techniques are also available.
3. Haematology laboratory has latest instruments like fully automated 6 part MINDRAY BC 6000 haematology analyzer, automated STAGO coagulation analyzer, Biosensor analyzer for D-dimer and automated ESR analyzer-ESR 20 Plus for performing routine and specialized haematology services.
4. Clinical Pathology section has automated urine analyzer-Uriplus 600 for urine analysis and fully automated 6 part MINDRAY BC 6000 analyzer which has Fluid Mode for body fluid processing.
