Infrastructure Obstetrics

The department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, MIMER Medical College and Dr BSTR Hospital, is a well-equipped tertiary care center that fulfills the needs of the urban and rural population of Maval and its surrounding areas. It has state of art equipment with well experienced and dedicated doctors who work hard for the need of the patients.

Out Patient Department Complex

    1. 5 Consultation rooms
    2. Colposcopy room
    3. N.S.T. Room
    4. I.C.T.C. Integrated counseling and testing center for HIV 1 AND 2
    5. Breast Feeding room
    6. Minor O.T. for Office Procedure

The OPD has a patient waiting area with a seating capacity of 50 patients. The OPD is well staffed with specialists, a departmental clerk, nurses, counselors, technicians and helper staff.

In-patient Department (IPD)

90 beds are available with 60 beds for pregnant and post-delivery mothers and 30 beds for gynaecology patients.

We have 3 well-ventilated, well-lit, and clean wards. Every ward has examination and procedure rooms, doctor’s room, Pantry, well-equipped Nurses station with crash carts carrying all emergency drugs.

Each ward has separate clinic rooms with all necessary Teaching aids.

Labour Room Complex

Spacious, well ventilated labour room complex with pre-labour waiting room, patient preparation room and beds having the facility for labour are available. Pre-labour waiting room has the equipments for continuous foetal monitoring of these patients and sample collection
Labour / Delivery Room
Labour room is equipped with 5 labour and delivery tables, with a continuous fetal monitoring facility and ultrasonography machine for emergency cases.
Septic Labour room
A separate Septic Labour room is available within the labour complex to prevent the spread of infection to other patients
Eclampsia Room
An Eclampsia room meets the demand of the various Eclamptic patient referred to this institute.
Obstetric ICU / High Dependency Beds
We have 2 beds with multipara for the monitoring of the high-risk obstetric patients as we deal with many critical obstetric patients.
Neonatal Resuscitation Room
Provided with an advanced neo-natal resuscitation unit in a sterile, sanitized environment for neonatal resuscitation.
Immediate Post Operative/ Post Natal care
Being staffed with experienced nurses who assist the new mother in feeding and baby care. Doctors on duty provide postpartum care & post-operative monitoring following the delivery and Caesarean section.

OT Complex

Major OT
2 well equipped, air-conditioned dedicated OTs for OBG, operate with well-trained OT staff and in-house anaesthetist. A dedicated well-equipped emergency OT cater to all the emergency cases 24 x 7.
Minor OT
To cater to all minor OT procedures.
Recovery Room
With beds available adjacent to the OT for all post-op patients with monitors for intensive, immediate post-op care.
COVID OT
Dedicated COVID OT was created to provide services to COVID infected patients in the COVID era.

DEPARTMENTAL LIBRARY & MUSEUM:

In addition to Central Library, we have a dedicated departmental library with 315 books pertaining to obstetrics and Gynaecology along with 275 titles and OBG Journals.
Our Postgraduate students and Faculty are enthusiastic readers and we have books in High-Risk Obstetrics, Labour, Foetal medicine, Reproductive medicine, Oncology, Infertility, etc.
The Department of OBG has a seminar room, with a seating capacity of 40 students, with an LCD projector and display screen.
Department is equipped with various models & charts useful for teaching in an innovative way The departmental museum has wet mounted and well-preserved specimens of various pathologies for academic purposes.
