Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry is an age related specialty meant for comprehensive oral health care of infants and children usually up to the age of 14 years. The department of paediatric dentistry is considered as one of the challenging branch as it deals with not only the treatment aspects of the children but to instill the positive attitude towards the dentistry and to develop their Psychomotor Skills.
The department believes that each pediatric patient should be given an opportunity to receive complete dental and oral care, and specially focused on the care & protection of children. The department strives to alleviate a child’s fear by using specialized language and skills to explain procedure in a way they can understand. The department also works hard to address parental concerns by explaining each child’s dental condition, why and what type of treatment have been planned and how it might be prevented in future in all aspects.
The department has experienced and skilled faculty who take care of the children visiting to the department as a patients and looks personally after each and every child patient. The department faculty trains the students in the handling & behavior management of the children which helps the UG & PG students to develop their communication skills. The department has all the modern equipment, instrument and a well developed play section for the best quality treatment provision. The department ensures that every patient and parents have a positive experience in the services provided.
The department offers postgraduate program in the Paediatric and Preventive Dentistry specialty with the intake of three postgraduate students per year. The postgraduate students are extensively trained according to the syllabus prescribed by the DCI & MUHS in both clinics and academics.
