Obstetrics & Gynaecology

An opulent heritage of being a “Center of Excellence and Generosity” has been hired by the department of Obstetrics & Gynecology ever since its inception in 1995. In order to inculcate expertise in the students, department propagates an environment of creativity, interest, trust, attitude, cognizance, communication, revolution and skill achievement. The brilliant character and capability of the promising doctors is being built by the magnificent surroundings that introduce the thrust of learning amongst the students.

It has engraved into a remarkable reputed centre in the whole of Maval and periphery area due to the outstanding commitment by several generations of gynecologists posted as teachers to this leading institute. An integrated and extensive evidence based health care facilities are being provided by the department and supported by abundance of knowledge and research publications. It favors women empowerment and motivates every student into a budding leader.

HORIZON OF THE DEPARTMENT

The department has got three units providing services to 20,000-30,000 out-door patients annually. Approximately 1000 major surgeries, 500 minor surgeries, 2100 deliveries and 1000 OPD procedures are being carried out every year. The Maternity care is certified by LaQshya-Manyata, which is a joint initiative between Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecological Society of India (FOGSI) and the Public Health Department of the Government of Maharashtra, to recognize private maternity care providers in Maharashtra, India. This certification acts as a stamp of quality, ensuring consistent, safe and respectful maternal care for women during an immediate after childbirth. It runs the UHTC Sudumbre and PHC Talegaon OPDs as well. It has got specialty clinics to meet the demands of the needy patients.

Every year it trains 150 undergraduates and 2 postgraduates apart from the nursing staff, physiotherapy students and the modern pharmacology students. Various clinics, lectures, tutorials and educational activities are being carried out for the under-graduate and post-graduate students. Both formative and summative styles of assessment are being carried out for students as per the norms of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. AETCOM modules are inculcated into actual practice for teaching empathy and respect towards the patients. The digital teaching has also been taken up by the teachers in this department to meet the needs of Covid era so as to continue giving their best even in those hard time.
