Department of Physiology, this is where the newly admitted first year MBBS students, dreaming to become great health care professionals, are taught the fundamental functioning of normal human body and the application of this knowledge in the field of medicine. As the British Physiologist Prof. Ernest Henry Starling rightly said, Physiology of today is the Medicine of tomorrow. Pharmacology, Pathology and Medicine are all extensions of Physiology. Here we give utmost importance in imparting knowledge regarding the normal functioning of human body. Only one who knows the normal can understand an abnormality when it occurs. Research is an integral part of Physiology. We help students understand the importance of research in the field of Physiology and acknowledge the great contributions of the eminent Indian Physiologists like Dr. B K Anand and Dr. A S Paintal to the world of Physiology.
